Dr. Maheboob Basade, or Dr. Maheboob Mahamud Basade, is a medical oncologist with 26+ years of experience. He completed MBBS and MD from VM Medical College, Solapur, followed by a fellowship in hematology and oncology from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, USA. His areas of expertise include chemotherapy, immunotherapy in hematological and non-hematological malignancies. He has been instrumental in implementing several projects related to oncology such as Chemotherapy for Hepatoblastoma and Etoposide in Histiocytosis-X.
Dr. Basade has many firsts in his credit- first unrelated umbilical cord blood transplantation in thalassemia major; India’s first bone marrow transplantation in sickle cell disease; and conducting Asia’s first case of unrelated cord blood cell transplantation in Krabbe’s disease. He has been associated with many research projects dealing with clinical trials of new drugs.
Dr. Basade has numerous papers and articles published in various peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the European Society of Medical Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, life member of Paediatric Haematology-Oncology Chapter of Indian Association of Paediatricians and executive body member of Indian Society of Medical and Paediatric Oncology.
