Dr. Damodar Rout is a neurosurgeon having more than 21 years of expertise. Services provided by him includes Micro Neurosurgery, Micro Vascular Surgery & Transphenoidal Surgery, and many more.

Dr. Damodar Rout graduated from Cuttack Medical College, Utkal University, in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in medicine. Later, he earned his MS in general surgery from Chandigarh’s Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. He earned his M.Ch. in Neurosurgery from the same institution.

He has contributed chapters to a number of publications on neurosurgery, and his research works have appeared in a number of periodicals. In 1991, he received the “A” class Scientist award, and in 1993, he received the Certificate of “Diploma in Laser Am Nerven System” from Karl – Franzens University in Graz, Austria.

His academic accomplishments include teaching around 40 M.Ch. students in neurosurgery and directing several postgraduate research projects. He has a membership in World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies in Asia.

Awards & Achievement

Prof.Rout was elected as Fellow, National Academy of Medical Sciences ( FAMS) in 1991. He was awarded as “A” class Scientist – 1991 Institute Award, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute, Trivandrum for outstanding contribution to the development of a Hydrocephalus Shunt System and Institute of Neurology ( Madras) Oration Award in 1992.
Was conferred the Certificate of “Diploma in Laser Am Nerven System” Karl – Franzens University, Graz, Austria – 1993 and as Fellow of INSA in 1997 and served the sectional committee for 3 years (1996 -1998).
The Department of Culture, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and the Kinnera Art Theatres, Hyderabad honoured Prof. Rout with Kinnera Award in recognition of his pioneering work in Neurosciences in 2003.
He was invited to deliver the prestigious Dr Yellapragada Subba Rao Memorial Oration on the eve of IMA Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in 2004, the Ninth E.S.Krishnamoorthy Memorial Lecture and Prof. R.M.Varma oration in 2008.
He was conferred “For the Sake of Honour Award” by the Rotary Club of Madras Metro and “Rashtriya Gaurav Award “ by the International Friendship Society of India in 2011 and “Life Time Achievement Award” by Madras Neuro Trust in 2013.
