Pericardial cysts also called cardiac cysts are noncancerous cysts or growths in the heart’s pericardium. The pericardium is the sac covering the heart and is filled with fluid. Cardiac cysts do not show symptoms in about 75% of patients and are extremely difficult to diagnose. The symptoms may start appearing after the cysts are big enough to press on the heart or the lungs. However, fortunately, a pericardial cyst rarely leads to serious complications.
